Help!!! Truck Runs Away From ME
well- I've had my truck back together somewhat for about a week and when I drive it all seems fine but everynow and then when I'm comming to a stop the truck isn't- It has an automatic 46re and shifts down intom first but the truck hits its rev limiter and is trying to run away. Brakes start cooking really quick and I have to throw it into netral and shut it down. sometimes when I restart it it's back to normal and other times it's not and I have to tap the pedal a few times- Any Ideas. I've looked over the forum and thought maybe the TV cable needs adjusted but I don't see why that would make my engine rev high while comming to a stop in first. Thanks guys
.red lights just mean look both ways before you gun it and your truck knows it, green just means you don't have to look.
.Lol- Ok
.Is your throttle cable working freely with no tight spots and routed in the same position as before?
.no I kinda routed it closer to the M-1 to clean up the engine bay a little-bit. but nothing is tight or bent if thats what your asking
.If you have any real sharp bends or turns in the cable that may be your problem. The throttle cable needs to have the long sweeping bends so the cable don't bind inside the housing. Also, you may try disconnecting the cable from the TB and spraying some WD40 inside the housing.
.I'll check it out and give that a try- Thanks for the input

You have also accidentally dropped something on or somehow mashed or bent the cable housing. If so, then you'll need to replace the throttle cable. Accidents do happen you know, at least they do at my house.
.Did you have the throttle body apart when you were detailing the engine?
Is the IAC valve hanging up?
.Throttle cable. How have you not given that a close look? You say tapping the throttle helps it and you haven't checked the cable?
Really...
As for the IAC motor, it can't supply enough air to make the truck 'run away' like he's describing.
.And do NOT use WD-40 on the throttle body unless you also plan on re-lubing it with never seize. Unless you meant spraying it down inside the throttle cable.
.my friend had his durango do same.it was fraid cable. inside were you cant see it.

I thought that was kind of self explanatory in my post. |
