ok i wanna turbo my d16y8 and i found a junkyard turbo on a first gen DSM and i was wondering how i can tell if the turbo is bad or good still.. i knew the girl who owned it before but she blew a rod and just sold it to the junkyard and the turbo worked good then but that was a while back and its just been sitting there. if the turbo is good, how much should i expect to pay? also what exhaust mani do you recommend?
.youll probably end up paying somewheres in the 100 range. to tell if its good, you need to take it off the car. there will be some side to side play, on all turbos there is even on brand new ones, you cant get around it. but excessive side to side play is bad. also, back and forth play is bad to have.
