Ebay turbo a good start?

So I was lookin' 'round on ebay bein' bored and I came across this.
Would this be a good start for a turbo setup on my D15b7? I was thinkin' I could run that with light boost until I got the cash to intercool and what not and gradually take the boost up as I replaced parts. Is it possible to run this setup with out a turbo timer? Any help appreciated.

I have no personal experience with it.. but I've heard nothing but bad from the ssautochrome kit.

.there's only one member on here that has the ssautochrome kit on his car and so far he has nothing but great things to say about it.

.A lot of people bag on ssautochrome, but ive heard some good things about them too.  and for that price, you can't beat it.  and yes , you can run a turbo on light boost until youget internals, but i dunno, i would always have an intercooler with a turbo.  its possible im sure, but i just wouldn't do it myself.  if you do it, keep it under 7psi at the MOST, thats what i would do, for that turbo.  and also, you dont need a turbo timer to boost, it helps, but you don't need it.  maybe you are confusing that with a FMU, which you do need.

.deftones has ssautochrome? cool well hes running low 11's right now in his gsr, shooting for 10's so talk to him for more info

.thanks for the great info guys. I'm gonna do a little more research just to be sure there isn't anythin' else I could be missin' other than a FMU.

.ugh. i shudder when anyone says fmu. lol you really should look into a different form of fuel management. although for low boost applications the fmu is cheap and works but really. its worth it to save and spend a litle more on the management. the hack is better then the fmu but still not very good. spend the money on uberdata,chrome, or hondata if your made of money and get it dyno tuned. your engine will thank you!!!

.Alright, so I've been lookin' and I've decided I'm gonna go with some kind of ECU mod to control my fuel and ignition. Anyone have any suggestions for cheap chips or where I can send my ECU to get reprogramed?

.i wish i had the pics of the ssautochrome turbo that split in half, or the pics of the manifolds w/ huge cracks in them.  theres even ones where the flange that bolts up to the turbo came off.  id stay away

.Wow, thanks for the heads up. I guess I'm gonna avoid that now. Dunno if I wanna save up and buy a complete greddy kit or try to piece somethin' together myself. Kinda floatin' between buyin' a turbo setup or jut doin' a swap instead now.

he says he found a way around the weaknesses of the manifold, and so far he's tellin the truth.
if i remember correctly he's runnin low 11's and is hoping for 10's next week

.a friend of mike (jezek is back) has an obx manni (basically an ssac) and the thing literally cracks every few days.  theres so much welding bead on that piece of shit you can barely see the piping anymore.  ive seen it with my own eyes, the things are garbage.  id get a used log manifold.

im not using a ssautochrome kit.  except for this guy that runs 11s on it ive heard they are piles of crap
