Quick alternator Q.

So I my alternator is dead right....

I'm looking at one that is 150 amps from 4alterstart.com... I have a 96 LX non-vtec right... it says it's for a 96-00 Del Sol but the guy says it'll fit a non vtec Civic... my question is... is he right?

linky... High Output Alternator

I don't wanna pay 250 bucks for a new alternator, only to find out that he was wrong and it either won't fit, or requires some crazy modification.

Anyways... thanks.

.well its seems that no one has answered your question. I will help you on that.

i checked at autozone.com and and viewed both the alternators of a EX and LX civic and they are the same product number #13282.
150amps is to much juice for the battery...your going to over charge the battery and fry the ECU or ECM.
Just get the alternator from a autozone or oreily autoparts. if you dont have any check any autoparts store. The most it will cost you is a BILL $100 with core charge meaning returning the old alternator in.

Just get one that works for you car.

.um..... I wouldn't think 150 amps would fry my Optima... no one has even said that would be an issue.

And I have to have a high output alternator... none of this dinky 70 amps shit.  So, I'm trying to make this work without paying 400 bucks just so I can get my stock freaking alternator rewound.

.unless you have a gigantic system, just use a stocker.  ive used a stock alt with 120k miles on it and a cheap sears battery on my 1000w rms fosgate system for over 2 years now, no problems what so ever.

.i say get a stockie, cause your cars wiring was only buildt to handle a certain amount of amperes,  thats y u have fuses so just in case too much current runs through a cicuit or a live wire  grounds it will pop the fuse before it can fry the circuit,,,, so u might get a couple popped fuses a day , so just go with a stock.....take it from an electrician.... if u want more juice for you system, get a lightning ball aka thunder cap or just plain old Capasitor......good luck

.yeah.. with my 1100w amplifier that's fused at 90 amps... it'll still drain the crap outta everything.  I don't want to get a stock alternator if it's just gonna blow up in 8 months again.

.did anyone notice on the link she gave us that it said its rated for 75 amps?

maybe it doesnt run at 150. check the link

.uh, 70 at idle...

.if you get the alternator at autozone... it has lifetime warranty

.A custom built unit is far better than an AutoJoke P.O.S.

The shop I used to work for had AlterStart alternators on consignment. Zero problems. Wish I could say the same for the AutoJoke units. Autozone owes my old shop SO many labor claims.
