OK, tried searching the past several days for what Trans I have and after finally figuring that out fluid, and more confused now. I finally figured out I have the NP 535 Trans. I have a multi combo from when I bought it and the guy I bought it from did not now all the details. It is an 87, but has a newer motor and the fuel injection setup from a 89-91. I guess I'll really find out if the 90 oil filter I bought for it fits tomorrow. It has a NP231 transfer case and by what I have researched and looked physically looked at the NP535 trans.
Now I was going to replace all the fluids in it tomorrow as I'm pulling a pop up camper with it monday and also have to replace the blown rear axle seal. BUt the trans fluid has thrown me for a loop. I've seen that it uses ATF, I seen someplace I belive it was 30 weight motor oil, and when it was looked up at advance when I was buying Lucas Gear oil for the rearend their database says gear oil. So what is it?
.From my research it looks like it takes 10w30 motor oil.. I'd keep looking around to be sure.
.That is the problem I keep doing searches all over not finding much. And hoping to get it changed tomorrow I know posting last minute on here but have been searching for days. I know I want to run some better fluid in it, as will be pulling the camper and also it does have a body lift and running
235/85 16 adn will be switching to something wider in the fall. |
