Nissan Oil Filter 15208-9E000 with paper end caps?
I have read before that Nissan oil filter 9E000 is well built with metal end caps for the filer media but when I open up my filter is has paper type end caps. Does anybody know when this happen? It is just another sign Nissan is getting cheaper. At least the over pressure bypass valve looks solid. (all metal).(I pulled up on the paper end cap) from : localhost//forums/show...oil+filter+pic
The link of the old oil filter pics.
.WIX FTW. Available at Carquest B-4620 (Red Box)
.Typically the OEM filter is about as good as you can get. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
I personally run the amsoil ones, the oem ones, and the mobil1 filters in that order of preference.
Would never use the FRAM etc, and hear good things about wix, but not enough to say anything one way or the other.
.Thanks AL, I will try WIX filter after I am done with the Auto-RX. (I am in the first step). You should see my UOA on BITOG soon.

The quot;bestquot; grade is the blue filters which is part# 85356 (line code: CFI). This filter has the orange/red silicone anti-drainback valve. It is also built with the bypass valve located at the opening of the filter, which theoretically allows the bypass to open without washing over the dirty media.
(Disclaimer: I do work at the CQ Distribution center as a product analyst)

.Unless anyone can show where paper end caps are failing, what's wrong with using them?

I am looking at the quot;Redquot; model (B4620and the bypass in iin the inlet. I believe the only difference between the two is the filter media.
.I like.. Napa amp; Oem.
iirc Napa is made by Wix? dunno.
Most agree that Fram is crap.
I've found the bigger filter of QR25 is a direct fit for QG18.. so I run the bigger filter for slightly more oil capacity.

O.K.
.Man, after reading over PhatVSpec's replies on the older post. That guy doesn't know motor oil from olive oil.
I been using the 9E000 on my last four OCI's. I might have to switch over to a Napa Gold or fork out $10.99 for a Mobil 1.
.Why is fram crap? Just wondering because their is one in my car now. Its the first time I have used it, I usually use Mobil 1 or OEM. |
