want to paint my bumper

O.K I'm sold I have looked at enough trucks to know that I want the bumper to be the same colour as the truck. I am thinking I should pull it off to make it easy, any tips on this or the paint, if I do pull it what about the air bag. any help  THANKS

.SRS has ZERO to do with your bumper. There is an inertia sensor in the SRS (airbag) computer module. I have a 2000 Dur and have had the bumper off several times. Painting is straight foward as long as its not chrome. If its the satin black, remove the whole assy, then remove the lower valance. Clean the bumper REAL good with soap and water then a good degreaser. Then, with a bucket of soapy water and 600 grit sandpaper or a red scotchbrite pad, scuff the paint on the bumper. Keeping the paper or scotchbrite pad wet while you scuff. Unless there is rust there is no need to take it down to the bare metal. Wipe it dry with a clean cloth. Then wipe it with degreaser again, just for good measure. DO NOT TOUCH THE BUMPER WITH YOUR BARE HANDS AFTER THE SECOND DEGREASER WIPEDOWN. Get it in an area where you want to paint it, wipe it with a tack rag and you my friend are ready to paint. There is a paint code either in the glovebox, the center console, firewall, or the drivers door jamb. Any paint supplier can help you with that. Take that code to the paint store to get the paint, a good gun, borrow your buddies compressor if you dont have one. Follow the instructions on the cans for mixing. You wont need more than a pint UNMIXED. Mixed with the reducers and hardeners will give you more that enough to color the bumper. It looks like a lot but its easy. Just take your time. I recommend using acrylic enamel as it is super easy to use and is very durable. Gives a good shine as well.
