Big audio system too much weight or not?

Would an audio system like the one below affect the performance of a vehicle because of the weight of all the stuff? In general what do you guys think?

This is all I want to put in the trunk :

2 x 12 quot; Subwoofers in 3.8Cu Ft MDF Box
2 x Amplifiers
1 x 3 Way Crossover

I had mixed opinions when I asked some locals and one guy even told me it's like having a fat 15 year old kid riding with you LOL. One guy told me that when he removed his setup from his car he noticed a performance improvement in the way the car accelerated.

So I am wondering if I should go with just ONE 12quot; sub and 1 Multi-Channel Amplifer running everything.... I am not really looking for something to blow the roof off but something that is light and also a loud enough. One thing for sure though, I do not want a stereo system thats gonna steal too much of my car's performance.

.Ya you have a front wheel drive car, the less weight in the trunk the better.

.yes, get one 12, and a four channel amp. or you can take somthing out of the car (like the spare tire etc..) so if you put the 2 12s in, youll have the same weight as before.

.naw, cars with 120hp respond great when you throw another 250lbs in them
go for less of a system, you dont wanna get tickets for that system either.

.go for the less is more way of thinking, less speakers, but better quality items

fo shizzy izzy izzity

.oh come on guys ... you want a system do it it isnt gonna jack THAT much performance out of your shit, just take it out when you hit the track.

.thats true too

lt;----  4 10's in the back, i know my shits slow, i don't care, its slow without it too, and quiet

but then you have to build a system that's easy to take out, and systems like that are usually ooogly. on top of that the car would rattle like a mofo without something like dynamat which would weigh the car down even more... there's nothing worse then having the sound of your car rattling apart being louder then the bass... it's just tacky

.my boy put that dynamat shit in his corolla and i laugh at him all the time cause for what he spent on the shit he coulda gotten a better system or some other shit for his car. My trunk rattles bad but i dont care, i cant hear the rattle from in the car and my system is for me not for anyone else.

.actually my car stays very quiet (as far as rattling) i'm gonna downsize soon anyway, but not downgrade

while your system may be for you, it's still going to be subjectiong people driving/parking around you to horrible nasty rattling noises.

.i have to be subjected to idiots driving slow as fuck around here and fuckin streets that i hit EVERY RED LIGHT, one time it took me 15 mins to go 4 blocks napa sucks so bad, so they can bear to be subjected to my rattling trunk and loud exhaust while im blowin past them

hahah, you're talking to a guy that at one point had 3 18quot;s and 2 12quot;s in my 89 hatchy with no exhaust... but i have come along way since then. my system sounds awesome, dont rattle 1 itty bitty bit, and can dround out highway noises at 70mph with all the windows down and moonroof open, yet wont get me tickets... all with one 10quot; and 2 small amps... but this cost me 3 stereo tickets, mild hearing loss, and alot of heart ache  to get too.

.I have 3 12quot; Rockford Power's in in my '93 coupe. I ended up with a custom install where they are each in seprate boxes to remove easily when I go to the track.  The amp and cap are on a  quick release amp rack that I designed which can be removed in about 10 seconds.  It's well worth the extra weight on the street to shave time at the track.
