Sorry I'm a traitor to mopar

After spending what amounts to a year in car payments in the last 6 months for alot of suspension repairs that were being done for the second time on a truck that has never been rock crawling or anything I am done with my 04 Dakota Quad Cab. At 75K I just didn't see things getting better in the immediate future.

Im now in an 09 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 5.7. Hertz HSK 165s, Eclipse and Alpine Amp, Pioneer Sub with Custom Box, and Pioneer HU are being transferred as we speak. Gonna try toyota for a bit and see if I can get a vehicle to 100K without spending an arm and leg on major repairs.

It was a fun truck, nice looking truck, just got tired of going to a shop and having someone tell me 'well everything looks fine... EXCEPT...' It's a shame, if I felt it would have held up Hd have had it for 10 years instead of 5 and a half but as it was it seemed like it was only gonna get more expensive and loose more value.

.If it has upset you that much and you're just looking to get it out of your driveway/garage quickly and not have to worry about the mess of selling it, just let me know. I'll come pick it up today.

.didn't you sell the truck a long time ago?

.well we will forgive u since that is a reasonable excuse to buy a Toyota.

.i understand for sure. nothing wrong with a toyota..my dad has had 2. a 95 that he just got rid of in 06. had 300K on it and the only thing that was going wrong was the tranny started to slip so he got rid of it. and then got an 05 tacoma loaded pretty good. so far so good...thing has some damn good pep to it and should last him another 250K at least. so basically im saying...GOOD CHOICE haha

and the new tundra's are sexy as hell...i think we deserve some pics

.SO you sell good ol' ma mopar for a Toyota, good luck with the junk.

Co-Worker in an '07 Tundra, in 4wd, spun out on snow/ice yesterday morning and hit a guardrail at under 25 mph from about a 15 deg. angle.

Right front of the truck (fender, door, hood, valence, grill, bumper, tire/wheel, suspension, headlights, etc) is trashed, windshield busted, airbags deployed.  Had it towed to the body shop by our work, initial estimate is $5,000 in damage and they haven't checked the frame or front axle yet, snapped the right CV assembly in 4 pieces.  Toyota is backordered 6 -10 weeks for the hood, bumper and valence, lower control arms are backordered minimum 3 months from Toyota.

.Good Luck!

.All I am going to have to say, hope that truck you just got can keep things together, crossing fingers for you.

Why didn't you at least go check out the American Trucks (yes, I know that the Tundra is built here, but that does not mean anything)?  I am not trying to be mean here, but after working at a Ford/Chevy dealership and then watching Ford compare its trucks to their competition.  I was simply amazed that the Tundra made it through all the tests.

Sorry about you giving up on the Dakota.

.Well thAT SUcks... hope you enjoy your new ride

.Congrates on the new truck

.enjoy the new truck

.Dont feel bad dude. i got rid of my dakota for the same reasons you did.
List is long  on the repairs and I got tired and I knew it was never gonna last. maybe i just got a bad one I dont know. 1/2 the peopell i know who own dodges have no real problems, the other 1/2  have nothing but problems and they usually get rid of them. I was too stupid to get rid of it  when it first started to cost $$, I jkept thinking well  it will be ok after this.
Good luck with the new ride. I just saw a nice crew cab tundra 4x4 and it looked really really good. it was black though so I think it will be illegal in a few years

LOL  I drove the new tundras. Really nice

.Post pics

.It's getting driven a thousand miles away where I'll be living for about 5 months so I don't know when I'll have internet again but soon as I do I will post pics. All black, one MEAN mofo. Feels like a muscle car and 14.65 on the first tank, same as the DAK was getting after 75000 miles. Same gas mileage, 13 dollars more per month. I still don't know why I didn't pony up for a full sized first time around.

Thought about a Silverado. IMHO they just don't make them like they used to, or something like that. I abused the crap out of my 05 Ranger for 107 thousand miles. 2wd, 4 cyl stripper. Front end was still rock solid when I got rid of it. Nowadays these supposedly tough as nails heavy duty big trucks are chewing up transmissions and suspension components. I just don't get it.

I was REAL close to closing the deal on a Silverado but was afraid I would end up kicking myself again in 5 years for not going foreign if and when it started to fall apart. I come from a Toyota and Honda family, know people who've always had good luck with these makes. I was kinda the dark sheep of the family drivin a Dodge, I'm now moving back into the fold.
