How to remove windshield wiper arms?

I want to get into the cowl area, but can't get the darned wiper arms off.  I popped the plastic caps off, removed the nut holding each arm to the motor, but the arms won't budge.  There doesn't seem to be any rust, etc holding them on, but I don't want to reef too hard..
Any suggestions/tips?

.pull harder.  

They can be tough to pull off.  If you have a pulley puller (gear type) you can try that.

.try a spray of pb blaster, or wd-40.

but you do need to pull a bit harder. don't try putting anything under it really, you'll just bend the arm.
