Engine Idle issues/Power steering fluid sensor!?

Good evening, Recently the Durango has starting idling very erratically when I start it up. It usually happens the first start of the day. What it does is idle real high for a second, then goes back down, and continues this usually until the vehicle warms. up. Any suggestions on what to start troubleshooting?

On another note, I have a CEL for a power steering fluid pressure sensor. Autozone wants 30.00 for this part, Anyone know where it may be cheaper at, or have one around?

.The power steering sensor may be causing your idle issue. The truck should be opening the IAC a little bit to keep idle RPM steady when the steering is being worked. Fix the switch first, then diagnose the idle if it's still erratic.

I'd take a look for the part real quick, but you didn't say what year/engine the Durango is. Just start calling places if you think $30 is too much for a sensor.

.Its a 2001 dodge durango 4 7 liter

.First thing you should do is pull the connector from the PS and inspect it for fluid. If you have fluid the power steering fluid pressure sensor has failed and it may have very possible leaked or pumped fluid all the way to your O2 sensor. If you see fluid disconnect the switch and disconnect your o2 sensor (upstream) and inspect it for fluid as well.
