Sloppy Winshield Wipers??
Im having some strange problems with my winshield wipers...well maybe not a problem, but they seem to be acting funny.
Lets see...how to explain this.
The wiper's travel(ie, where they stop at the begining and end of each sweep) tends to change every time they sweep back and forth. in a good rain(whern the winshield is very slick) they will sweep ALL the way to the A pillar(and usually go PAST the winshield and actually HIT the pillar) then go ALL the way back and SLAM into the park position....on dry days(in a mist for example) they usualkly dont reach all the way to the pillar, and cannot get back to the park position(unless i wet the winshield and manually pull the stalk to get them to slam down).
Is the wiper linkage adjustable in anyway? Is it common for the wiper motors to go bad on the 4gens? the wiper action is a bit choppy douring normal usage as well....im just tired of hearing them slam(and scrape) into the A pillar....
.Oh yeah! I keep forgetting to ask about that. Both my third gen Prelude and my fifth gen Civic did that. The Prelude was worse. On high it would slam down to the cowl and up to the A-pillar. On low or interval it would occasionally hit the A-pillar. The Civic only occasionally hits the A-pillar. I thought maybe they had bushings like a Chrysler vehicle that wear out .
.i dunno, but the exact thing happens to my 5th gen. when its dry, the blades wont go all the way down. when wet, they slam the cowl. and at speed (40+) they wont go down even when on fast, guess too much wind resistance. weak motor is all i can think of, but weak b/c of age, or just weak to begin with i dont know
.hmmmm, wtf, my passanger side wiper, doesnt clean at all, it leaves a gap
.my ex's wipers were all weird like that too. no problems on the si though |
