What regulates the voltage on the car? Is it the alternator and how do you know if you are nolonger getting the right voltage? What is the voltage supposed to be on the civic with the car running?
.bump........
.Everyone lookin'....but nobody answerin'. Guess I'm not the only one who doesn't know.
.OK usually the voltage regulator keeps in from going past 15 volts usually. THeres a regulator on the older cars. Im not sure about hondas i dont know about them as much. IT might be internally in the Alternator.
.12-14 volts is good
.Mine drops below 12 to about 11.5 when the car sits at idle after it warms up. Ocasionally it will idle right so I know its not the idle needing to be adjusted.
.Ok, where did u measure this voltage?
.What about when the RPMS r up?
.I have a voltage gauge in the cabin. At high rpms the voltage is at about 13.5. I checked the battery while the car was running with a DMM and it showed 12.8 when the car is running and ideling good. When I give it a good rev it jumps up to 13.5 volts. When it is ideling bad it sits around 12 to 11.5 volts. |
