Local source for cheap/decent tires?
I've been ordering from Tire Rack for years only because I can't find a good local source. I paid about $190 for 2 Kumho 712s in 205/50/16. That's total, with shipping. Anyone know anywhere else to get tires locally, or should I just stick to tirerack.com (free plug)?
.i gotta check with the guy i usually go with (hien, dennis' brother) i haven't gotten tires from him in a while. the ones he has are federal 535 series tires. if you don't mind those, which aren't bad (you can check out their website..supposedly european designed/taiwanese assembled) pm me to remind me.for arguments sake tho you can ask for opinion (i'm sure jared will chime in) on how much better the kumho's are
.sounds like good prices that you been paying....how long is shipping time ? If im not mistaken...I think Vakamon has decent priced tires
my friend said that Eurosport also is pretty decent....but then again...he doenst know crap about cars...he probably thought he was gettin a deal...but was actually gettin ripped.
Maybe also Revolution Motorsports ???
.Thanks for the replies so far. The shipping is fast, like 2 or 3 days. I found a really cheap Kumho that I might order from there for only $148 shipped for 2 tires. Man, if we lived on the mainland, tires and rims would be so much cheaper and the selection would be endless. The price we pay for living in quot;paradisequot;.

that seems a bit expensive for the tire you're buying. i paid about $360 for four 225/45/18 712s on tirerack myself. i'd stick with tirerack, unless you plan on graduating to something like KDWs. right now, costco has them on special. they are only a 10-20 bucks or so more (ea.) than tirerack plus there is a $60 off coupon in the costco mailers. the good thing is with costco you get free inflation, checks and rotation locally. i was even considering getting a set just for that reason. plus you'd get a better tire.
oh and for the record, Eurosport is not cheap. local with instant gratification, but not cheap. Nearly all the tire dealers can get the same price on their stuff at the wholesale level -- its all about markup after that. Greg you can your cheap *** crew! The federals and hankooks are ok, but try not to compare apples and oranges. the cheap federals are good quot;general usequot; tires. if you look their higher sport lines that are comparable to 712s or KDWs, you will notice a distinct price difference -- esp in the Hankook sport lines. Not that 712s or KDWs are even close to the really high end, but you get the idea.
.you should get falken azenis i prefer the st-615 since they are for street use .only come z-rated and they are under 100 i think the rt-615 is only for track. kumho is another good brand. go see my friend dennis at sears ala moana he hook u up good.
.i was just at costco... they said 145 ea for KDW's mouted balanced installed
