my friend has a system in his truck with a 10quot; sub and a 1200w amp. when he listens to music that has bass, it will thump for like 10 min. then the bass would stop for like 5 min then it will start again. what could the problem be???
.uh.. not a clue.. but I got a question for you... is there a reason he has a 1200w amp powering one 10quot; sub?

dint even notice that. he must mean 2 10s or else hes planning sumfin else
.yea i mean 2 10quot; subs. sorry i had to help my bro move out then i went to the rangers game so im tired as shit..
.oh btw, do yall think that a 400W 4Ch amp powers the subs good enough? cause thats what i got, it dosent sound good anymore, i think its because im used to the bass. im thinking about gettin a 15quot; sub for more bass. should i get the 15quot;, or stay with the 2 10s?
.Sounds like the amp is going into thermal protection.

exactly my thought...make sure its gettin enough air to keep it cool...
.overheating, overheating, lalala lalala.
yep.
And... why the hell would you use a 4 channel for woofers? that's pretty ridiculous to me.

I love 15quot;s... that's why I have two of them..
.well hey, im on a budget, i got that 4ch amp at a pawn shop for 50 dollars, it powers my tweeters and my subs.so i should tell my friend to mount his amp like under his seat or where should he mount it?
.15s roxors. I'll never have any other size.
Under the seat = heat.
.one trick you can do when in a tight area is to put it near the port on the sub box (if your box is ported) the small bursts of air help in cramped areas..

Under the seat = heat.truth
the trunk provides enough ventilation to keep it cool. another good place to mount is on the backs of the rear seats. which is also the trunk i guess. unless your seats are folded down.

do you know where to mount the amp in a 2 door truck?
.it would depend on the truck, I suppose. You could find a way to flush mount everything behind the seats.
Of course, you'd have to get creative with it. |
