The Philly Region of the SCCA is having their third summer event on Saturday, May 20th in Aberdeen, MD. Cost is $25 for SCCA members, $35 for non members, or $25 if it's your first autocross event. It's also best to go ahead and bring a helmet if you have it, otherwise you can use the loaner helmets on hand.
FYI to everyone running STX (or SM if you have bsr, cams, etc.): You need to be there by 11am, so you can sleep in a little. Registration opens at 11:30am, which then closes about an hour later. Driver's meeting is a little after that and racing begins around 1:45pm. You'll want to walk the course a few times before the driver's meeting, so get there early! Although it is split day format, it's nice to show up early to watch some morning runs. STX runs third heat and SM runs fourth. For more information checkout www.phillyscca.com and go to the Solo section. A suggestion for all would be to pre-register so that they know how many people will be at the event ahead of time. Just go to the schedule on the phillyscca website and it will take you to myautoevents.com where you need to sign up and it will allow you to register. This will save you time and help out the organizers. It only takes a few minutes, so do it!
The only other thing you really need to bring is some money, your car, and maybe a snack since it can be a long day! Hope to see you guys there.Directions can be found on the phillyscca website. I'm too lazy to post them. Additional Autocross Information (Click on Links)

Thanks to Josh for the general info... if you can't tell I just copied it
.I am hoping to run non-comp in the am. hopefully first heat. if not i wont be able to make it out. I have a graduation party to go to.
.Thanks for posting this up Aaron, I've just been too busy with crap to do this. As a matter of fact, I promise tonight I'll put up the post for the meet on the 24th.
I'm going to Steve Snow's tonight after work to get the alignment fixed, I think I'm going to go with -1.5 camber and either 0 toe or like 1 degree of total toe out, haven't decided yet. Also not certain if I'll make this event, but I'm going to do what I can. George Washington is holding two graduation events and Karen isn't sure which one she's going to, or whether she's going at all. So that will ultimately determine whether or not I'm able to make it out. If I can go then I'm going to try and run in the afternoon, but worst case I'll just run PRO if I can only get clearance to run in the morning. But we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I need to test out the new alignment though, you know what I'm saying!
.This will be my street tire test... we'll see if a correctly sized MX can beat a way to tiny hoosier. I think it will, in which case I'll be rocking some 225/45R17 azenis in a month or so (new rims w/v710's will have to wait a year... my money tree hasn't been watered lately and the gardner doesn't like when I pick the fruit )
.of course!!! it's finally on a Saturday that I can get off and it's the day my fiancee graduates from college!
Maybe I can catch the next Saturday meet.

Oh so true, great analogy my friend.
And what time is the graduation? You might be able to make the morning heats if it's in the evening or something.

I wish!! But she wants to hang out with some friends that day so there you go! I'm going to get there piknockout...one of these days!
.It's all good, gotta do what you gotta do. Trust me, I know.
On a side note, got the car aligned today. Set to zero toe and camber is roughly -1.5 degrees. Car feels good, but haven't really had a chance to push it. Drove it on some back roads on the way back from West Chester, but it was dark so no hard driving. I have a feeling though when I get a chance to really test it that it might have a little too much oversteer. I'll test it on the quot;Christiana Mall Circuitquot; tomorrow and see what happens, then adjust the RSB accordingly if need be.
.Sweet! Now just get yer butt to Ripken

So what were the before numbers? And when are you going to dial it up to -2.5°?
.2quot; toe in and +5° camber

Touchê Scotty
.I'm not sure what he would charge for a regular alignment, but mine was more due to slotting the struts, along with all the crap it takes to align it with messing around with the lower bolt holes to get the camber evened out. Took us a few tries to get it right.
Who knows what the quot;beforequot; numbers were since I messed with the toe before I got there, then we slotted the struts and pushed them as far negative as we could, which really toed it in. So the before once we got it on the rack was about -3 camber on both sides roughly and -5 toe in or something. It was ugly after pushing in that camber! But now she drives like a dream, nice and smooth.
Converting the degrees/minutes provided into degrees/decimals, here's the final result for the front:
Front left and right camber -1.58
Front Total Toe 0.02
Left Castor 2.42
Right Castor 2.17
On an interesting side note though, my rear beam seems to be all jacked up. Here's the alignment settings on the rear:
Left Camber -1.50
Left Toe -0.22
Right Camber -0.32
Right Toe 0.38
Cross Camber -0.53
Total Toe 0.17
Thrust Angle -0.30
Now I gotta figure out why the rear is all jacked up. Perhaps something I did when I put the rear trailing arm bushings in? |
