Question to all your Home audio experts
Ok I was looking for a home audio system in a box. Preferbly one with a reciever, and 5.1 speakers. I used to have a Pioneer system that a pieced together. But my apartment was broken into twice and they stole it twice. But since then I have moved to a more secure location. And dont know if I wanan pay to piece a system together. So today I bought
I bought an Onkyo system. The HT-S590S The system its self is ok. Bass is lacking, but I paid $240 for it. I think Im going to return it. But would like the opinion of you guys on what I should get instead. I dont need a dvd player, just a reciever. And its mostly for dvds and tv.
Pioneer HTP-2700/2500 from walmart.
Panasonic SC-HT40 from Circuit City.
Panasonic SC-HT740. Dont like this one so much: CC
Yamaha YHT-270, and the YHT-370. Both come recommended from the staff at Best Buy.
thanks for the advice
.I bought an LG HTiaB, and I like it quite a bit. The bass is nice and accurate; the sound quality is great. It's got a built-in DVD player and is DTS compatible. I watched Fun With Dick and Jane and in the car scene I could have swore it was raining outside. Problem is it's almost too bassy being on the third floor of an apartment building and it's a hassle to turn down the sub at times-anywho linky:

.Dont really need an extra dvd player
.If you have a DTS-compatible DVD player, then you'll need to buy an optical/coaxial audio cable to run from your DVD player to HT Box to get DTS from the DVD to the speakers. My friend gave me a digital audio cable (they are ~$30) thinking I was getting an Onkyo setup; however, I never needed it with the LG.
.Well im going to return the Onkyo just need ot decide what system i want.
This is the dvd player I have now, 5 disc Samsung
.You're not really going to benefit from a good-decent HT system with that DVD-player.
.never mind figed it out. I dont have HD TV so Id probly keep my dvd player till it dies
.Ok gang well I got a new system. I got these Yamaha speakers and this Pioneer reciever. The Pioneer is a newer version of the one I had from a while back. Im debatin on keeping it or up'n to more expensive pioneer or a yamaha reciever to make it all match. Any thoughts or comments?
.Logitec Z-5500 ftw... plenty of bass small speaker w/ big punch. 505 watt RMS/
1010 Peak
.Ok after messing round a bit with some other systems. I went a different direction.
I picked this Yamaha reciever up at Best Buy open box
and i matched it up with these JBL Monitor for my fronts
followed by my JBL Voice center
Running these Infinities Primus 150's as my rears but I think I may return em. And this Sony powered sub
So what yall think? Should I buy a 2nd set of JBL as my rear?
Oh yea it sounds really awsome
