are 99-00 stolen more than 96-98?

well.. on my quest to find a new car..

i was trying to stick with a 99-00 coupe or sedan. i wanted a sedan, but the coupe gets more and more attractive to me. (again). i've always loved the 99-00 front end because of the fog lights, but now, the 96-98 front end has started to grow on me.

i know whatever year i get, a Civic will attract the thieves, but in your opinion (and maybe statistically) are 96-98 Civic coupes stolen less than the 99-00 coupes? is insurance about the same would you say? (i've requested a quote for the various years, but i wont get that until later today/tomorrow).

i really grew to love my car in the few months i had it, and really hate to move on..

i would think if ur shyt looks good it will attract attention no matter 96-98 or 99-00..
u can get the 96-98 cheaper so i would go for that..
u can always do the front conversion..

.the front end of the 96-98 w/ a nice lip looks really good IMO. if i get a 96-98, i wouldnt do a conversion.

.yes 99 -00 are stolen more cause that is the year that the Si was made so DUH of course everyone is going to try to steal those. where as the best a 96-98 has was the ex which eh it was ok..... but no Si

.yeah.. i know why 99-00s are stolen. it seems, from looking at various boards, that 96-98 are rarely touched compared to 99-00 coupes.

.98-98 weight less too. plus i;d imagin there;d be a bunch of front ends laying around somewhere since everyone does 99-00 conversions.

.I think 99-00 Si coupe is the most stolen civic now. Even stock they just get towed away. So if you get one, have some serious security, and I don't mean just a car alarm. The regular coupes aren't in as much demand so you should be okay.

.in a coupe i'd go with 99-00 but as far as a four door goes 96-98 gt; 99-00 because you can always do a front end conversion but the taillights on the 96-98 are so much better than 99-00. Maybe not stock vs stock but red/clears on a 96-98 are better than anything for a 99-00

.thats what full coverage is for, any car will get stolen if the right person is wanting it, no matter what it is, i wouldn't let that deter what you want to get, if you like the 99-00 then get one or vice versa, bottom line if someone wants to steal it they will , a car alarm MAY make them walk away, but you get a PRO theif and he'll have that shit shut off before you even move the bed covers, and from what i've read yes 99-00 is stolen more than the 96-98, good luck and let us know

.yep...99-00 will most likely get rolled. the 96-98 are plain out ugly, some do look pretty sick but..most of them dont look too good..but thats just my opinion. about ur decision bout getting the coupe or sedan?? get a coupe less weight and better looks. u can make a sedan look pretty clean too but still can't beat the coupes. good luck with your decison.

.yeah.. full coverage is there for a reason, but i'd like to keep my car for more than 6 months if possible this time around.

i need it for school, and i cant have the shit go missing half way through the semester..

coupes dont really weigh less than sedans, they arent any smaller, my lx sedan is less than an ex coupe. the weight difference is nothing significant. also i dont know how you can like 99-00 and say 96-98 are just ugly cuz it really is the same car. the only significant aesthetic difference is the front bumper and taillight housing. The average person wouldnt even know theres a difference.

i agree on that one, if i didn't have a 99-00 i wouldn't really notice the difference
