Alternator Problem

Neighbor's car  2000 Sentra QG18

Ok, so the car will not start after leaving it for a couple of hours, but if it is started every so often its fine. If he gets a jump then it will also run fine. The car will not die while running.

Sympotms:It is draining bateries at an alarming rate
No check engine code
Brake light on and airbag light flashing
headlights will blow out immediatly if turned on (sometimes)

So that sounds like a bad alternator to me. What else could it be? How can you test an alternator?

.Sounds like the alternator to me. The FSM for my '05 has a section to troubleshoot the starting and charging system. If you got it for the '00 should be some help using a multimeter.
