Hey does anybody know how to wire 2 dual voice subs as far as jumping them thanx allot and if anyone has any pictures that would be great thanx allot i appreciate it
.jumping them? wtf?

.here are a couple options...and the Crutchfield Site..

.Im sure by quot;Jumpingquot; you mean wiring in series or parallel. If you wire the subs voice coils in parallel (pic 1 in my last post) you wire them positive terminal to positive terminal, and the result is HALF the ohm load. if teach voice coil is rated at 4ohm then the resistance in parallel is 2ohm. If you wire the subs in series (pic 2) you wire them positive to negative, and the result is DOUBLE ohm load.

Thanx i appreciate it, if u can answer one more question i qould appreciate it, how would i hook up 2 dual voice subs? sorry for so many questions i feel like a lamn ass lol
.well...if you are using a mono amp then...wire each sub like pic 2....then take the 2 positive wires (one from each speaker setup) and connect them to the positive terminal of the amp....then the 2 negative wires to the negative terminal. this will take (2) 8ohm setups and the ohm load on the amp will be 4ohms....if you have a 2 channel amp then just choose a setup that will get the best performance from your amp (the 2 or 8 ohm setups in my first post) and just connect the lead wires to the amp like a normal setup..
.... depends on your amp. say you have an amp that should be running at 2 ohms.. and you have two 2 ohm dual voice coils woofers... you would have to wire them in series (he has a really nice diagram)positive to negative on both woofers... there's 4 ohms now. Then the positives to the amp, and the negative to the amp... and they're bridged back down to 2 ohms.
if that makes any sense. I suck ass at explaining ohms and wiring, so correct me if I'm wrong.
.and hey, he types faster than me. I suppose it would probably help to know how many ohms your subs are and what your amp is supposed to run at.

thats exactly right....if you click the link below the diagrams i posted...there are MANY other setups to choose from....just choose one that matches the specs on your speakers..

yes...i actually forgot to say that in my last post...I supplied diagrams for 4ohm speakers...yours might be 2ohm 4ohm or even 8ohm setups...
.before you go wiring it up how everyone is said, we need a few more details, such as how many channel amp you have. With a DVC setup you can bridge two channels to each voice coil and run the whole amplifier to the sub. As many others have mentioned, we also need to know what the ohm rating(impedence) of the voice coils. With all this information it makes it easier to hook everything up to get the maximum performance of your amp without causing damage.
.well i got the wiring done thanx guys but i still havent fixed my problem and the problem is the amp turns off once i start to turn it up and the battery and alternator are fine i already checked them out what else could be causing this problems i need to take audio classes lol
.could it be the wiring where should i start first? or should i take it to a shop, around how much would i pay? |
