More air, more power. This link will take you to a link in another forum where I linked to two articles. The articles take the same motor and dyno test: a cintrifigual blower, two quot;rootsquot; blowers, and a turbo at the same psi levels, very comprehensive. They even show the effect of runner length on power output (think FI + QR25 variable intake). All four make more power, all four do it diffrently, this shows a little about how.

they're sure as hell not ripping me or a decently bolted Spec V, or many other spocom's.
I saw one do a SCREAMING 14.9 @ 95 pass at the track last night. Wow. That's tearing some cornhole right there.
BigJ, Of course more air more power, thank you captain obvious. My question was, why supercharger over turbo, minus the bogus quot;better reliabilityquot; bs or quot;s/cs are less hard on the engine than turbosquot; crap.
.I like the idea of a roots blower, and I've invested too much time (just stared acctually investing money) not to continue. Noone has done it yet and I think it will make good solid gains and a reliable daily driver (not that turbos aren't) The qr respons well to any FI setup, and the layout I've been working on isn't overly complicated, and well, we'll just have to see. I could just turbo the car but I have this damn tinkering OCD complex. I'm not a turbo or S/C purist, I just want to see what happens, I may fail, I may succed.
.a roots blower? The worst, least efficient form of FI you can get, that basically craps out up top and adds midrange power/torque, which the QR doens't really NEED?
Have you SEEN results of roots blowers on nissan engines? Stillen blower on VQ35=not impressive, craps out up top.
.everyone wants to be original to have their moment in the spotlight..
and then they sell there car and buy one that everyone else has..gee that sounds familiar.. |
