need sum quick help with an amp!!

ok im planing on getting this amp, ive heard good things about it, its an Alpine MRP-M350 V-Power 700 Watts Mono Amplifier, now i know nothing about amps, so if i want to connect this to 2 ALPINE SWS-1242D TYPE-S 2004 12quot; subs, will it work??? and what does quot;mono ampquot; mean? also what are the channels, 4 channel and so on??

(below are pics of the amp...)

thanks alot,
Jay

.I believe that amp is only stable  to 2 ohms and the subs would allow you to get a 4 ohm or a 1 ohm load.  Do you have the specs for that amp, I don't know if that is true for sure about the amplifier, but I'd be able to tell you more with that info.

.wats ohms???

heres tha specs for tha amp:

.Yeah, you should go with the 1222D so you can wire them to a 2 ohm load at the amp.

mono amp means it only has one channel...

ohms is the nominal resistance of the speaker. The lower the ohm load the less resistance to power flow there is, and the more power the amp will put out...up to its thermal limits.

.would it be better to get one with 4ohm?? also what's the quot;1222Dquot;???

is it better to have more channels?? what do channels do?

heres sum sub specs:

Kevlar®-reinforced pulp cone with aluminum finish
3/4quot; Santoprene rubber surround
dual 4-ohm impedance
stamped steel basket
frequency response 26-1,000 Hz
power range 50-300 watts RMS (150 watts per coil)
peak power handling 900 watts
sensitivity 87 dB
top-mount depth 6-1/4quot;
sealed box volume: 0.85-1.5 cubic feet
ported box volume: 1.25-2.0 cubic feet

.I personally don't think that amp is powerful enough for two of those woofers.

The 1222D is the model...it is a dual 2 ohm model

The one you posted is the 1242D...a dual 4 ohm model

I agree with Akiahara96 though...and yes, the amp would drive a single 1242D very nicely wired to 2 ohm with the gain turned down a bit.

.a single.. but he has two.    he did say two, right?

I'd say you should get an amp that's gonna push closer to 600w RMS to power those two woofers.

.U could hook that amp up but it'll overheat like a mofo

yes, then he asked if one would be better for that amp

.oh haha... I'm observant!

haha...sorry i ment to ask should i get an amp with 4 ohm

.so would this amplifier be better? for the same subs??

.no...you need an amp that puts out max power at either 1 ohm or 4 ohms...look into the JL Audio amps

.I don't think they make a 1222, I think they only make the 1221 type R, although they do make single voice coil versions I believe of the S
