Speaker static

Okay, I'm a total noob when it comes to stereo stuff, and I'm not into bumping sounds, I just like it nice and clean.  I searched by the way ( i admit, not that much. oops).  Anyway, I have mb quart speakers all around, and one of my 6*9's is giving static on certain low notes.  I don't think I blew the speaker, because I don't blast my music at all.  I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it, like tightening wires or something?  Any help would be sweet.  Thanks.

.is it only when the volume is up?

.Make sure nothing is contacting the speaker cone and that the speaker is evenly and solidly mounted

.also make sure that your speaker connections are solid

.Thanks guys, yeah its only when the music is turned up (not blasting), and certain low notes.  I'll check that stuff when I get home from work.  Thanks!

.is the speaker connected to an amp of any kind? or is it the stock wiring?

.No amp, stock wiring as far as I know.  The previous owner had a mean system, but right now it's just running off the deck.

.crap, I've been working like a dog, I'll check it this weekend, i hope...

.I checked the connections and everything is connected good, and evenly spaced.  hmmm...

.sounds like distortion to me...

maybe engine noise too?

.put an amp on em and jus hear the difference

as for the amp, I don't have one, and have no desire to spend money on one.

.its ground loop noise, as in one of your grounds could be bad and picking up alternator whine, unless she's just trying to say your exhaust is loud .  I doubt its ground loop noise though, or it would do that at any volume, and it would be more of a whine than crackle.

I concur
Does your headunit have an internal crossover? Is it turned on? You do not really have to 'blast it' to get distortion. It depends on the quality of the head's internal amp, the amount of bass you have dialed in, the frequency of said bass, the crossover frequency, the dreaded 'loud' function., etc...

Is it static like a TV on a channel with no signal? Or more of a crackling type of noise?

I have a stock exhaust so that couldn't be the problem, and yeah its more of a crackle.

It sounds just like a radio station that doesn't come in perfectly.  I listen to really wierd music, quot;emoquot; which has a lot of wierd bass notes and stuff, if I listen to say, linkin park or something like that, It sounds great, it's just the wierd bass notes that it crackles...Rap sounds good, so i don't know...Are mb quart speakers junk?  I heard they are pretty good.  I'll check the settings on my clarion deck, I have no idea what internal crossovers and all that is, I have stock tweeters in there, if that says anything. (I know nothing about this stuff)  Thanks for the help people, I appreciate it.
